“As women, I think we can often be told that we are too emotional or that our emotions make us weak, but actually they make us strong, wise, and intelligent.” – Kara Ananda

Here is a short summary of Kara’s interview. Please give a listen to experience the full energetic connection of our transformational conversation. You are going to love Kara’s magnetic energy. She is AMAZING.

Please share a Significant Transformation you’ve experienced in the last 12 months.

I’ve been through many changes in my life. I experienced a huge transformation in 2009, about 5 years ago, when my mother died early in the year, I let go of my private practice and decided to transform my work from mostly in-person one on one to a global online business, and met my now-husband.

In the past year, the biggest transformation I have experienced was moving across the US twice! First from Oregon to Maine to be closer to some of my family and friends, including my father and my two 97 year old grandmas, and then back to Oregon because we realized that my teen needed better schools for his upcoming high school experience starting this fall than what were available in Maine, and I needed better internet accessibility for my growing online business. So that has been a huge transformation, and has also introduced me to lots of people that I would not have otherwise met as well as enhanced my emotional and psychological resiliency.

Another transformation I have gone through is really focusing my message of women’s health on loving your breasts! I have been involved in birth work and women’s health work for over 15 years and last May I wrote an article called “Viva la Boobies! 7 Things to Know About Breasts” which went totally viral and has now been read by over 750,000 people on my website alone, plus reprinted in many other online sites and magazines, and even translated in many languages. I’ve received tons of letters from women all over the world regarding their relationship with their breasts and I’ve discovered that this is a really amazing topic for me to be focusing on. Everyone loves breasts! Plus it’s a gateway for me to then share powerful information about women’s health, birth, breastfeeding, sex, and body image.

How do you relate to your body, sexuality and power?

I love my body and feel that my health, energy and vitality are directly related to my ability to be happy, create change and be successful in the world. I honor my sexuality as a divine source of feminine creation abilities and love to pay attention to my cycles and work with the natural ebb and flow of my own innate sexuality for my manifestation and work. My body, sexuality and cycles remind me of the deep link that we have as women with the cycles of nature, including the ocean, the moon, and the sun.
What are your favorite sacred feminine rituals?

Growing up I was such a tomboy, I loved to crawl in the forests, climb trees, and had scratches and bruises on my legs and elbows from playing hard. I didn’t like pink things or jewelry, because I thought they were “girly”. Now, I love to honor my feminine nature and am putting more attention on things that celebrate my divine feminine essence, and that make me feel like a goddess. For example, when I launch a new class, I now go and buy a new dress and maybe a necklace or some natural make-up. It makes me feel gorgeous and I now celebrate and honor the rituals of adoration for our feminine nature!

I also love to celebrate my moon cycle, by taking the first day to relax, curl up in bed with hot beverages, eat chocolate, have a glass of red wine, read inspirational books, and write in my Moleskine journal. As much as I can, the first day of my cycle is a great day to celebrate the power of my body and let go of all tension and worries and just be.

How do you embody being a sovereign Goddess?

For me, being a sovereign Goddess is about being empowered emotionally, physically, mentally and financially. I am really passionate about helping women to become business savvy and successful, especially in the healing arts and women’s empowerment fields. I think that when more women are able to create successful businesses and be empowered financially, then we will really change the world for the better. Women leaders have been shown to be more humanitarian, have greater empathy and listening skills, and care about the success of their whole team and community. I would love to see more women have greater knowledge of money, finances, business and wealth. This is something that I was not taught growing up and really had to seek out to learn as an adult, so I’m really proud of being financially independent now and am dedicated to helping other women to achieve this knowledge too.

In addition, I really own my emotions and feelings because I have learned that they are powerful guides for me in my life. As women, I think we can often be told that we are too emotional or that our emotions make us weak, but actually they make us strong, wise, and smart – and we are only weaken and more easily controlled when we lose touch with our true feelings.

What was your inspiration for writing “Viva la Boobies!”

I’d love to share about my inspiration for my popular article “Viva la Boobies!” – I had been studying breast health for many years due to providing massage therapy for women, teaching women’s healing arts circles, and supporting new moms through breastfeeding issues, and in recent times had become really concerned with the increase in doctors recommending “preventative mastectomies” or removal of healthy breasts for prevention of breast cancer.

Last May I had a vivid dream in which I was at a conference and was standing at the back of the room. The main organizer came up to me and asked me if I would get on stage to talk about breast health and that it was a very important issue that needed to be addressed. I agreed and soon woke up from my dream. Two days later Angelina Jolie went public with her announcement about having a preventative double mastectomy and encouraging women to do so too. I remembered my dream and wrote my article and it quickly went viral! Within 2 days over 250,000 people had read it on my website and in less than a year that number is now 750,000!

Great interview! I was also a tomboy growing up running through forests and am happy to say pink is now one of my favorite colors. Still, I can do a better job nurturing myself. Thanks for a great post!
