If you’re an ambitious female entrepreneur or success driven career girl, it’s likely that at some point in today’s world you have experienced compromise when it comes to your life, body, financial goals or relationships. It can seem hard to have a successful business, and fulfilled life in equal measures and the balance might seem off.
I often hear women saying ‘I’m too busy at work to eat healthily,’ ‘I’m too focused on my business to see my friends’ ‘No matter how hard I try to get everything done, I’m still up at 1am sending emails’ or ‘I cant switch off from work, so I’m not connected in my relationship’.
In the reach to ‘have it all’ women are getting stuck in a life rut feeling burnt out, overwhelmed, stressed and not reaching their potential in their business or career.
As women we are wired to feel connected, energetic, and purposeful as well as successful, but the reality is that a lot of women’s lives reflect the opposite.
Women are seeking freedom. A free life where they ‘have it all’, connected relationships, a healthy body, a lifestyle with more time and a sense of balance.
The truth is, it is possible to have these things as well a successful business or career. It just takes a little Life Restyling!
In my experience, the reason why so many career girls and female entrepreneurs are struggling is because their focus is slightly off. We’ve been taught that if we work harder, longer and focus on striving to get further or reach a financial goal, then and only then can we achieve freedom and a more fulfilled life.
It’s such a delusion, because it’s the fastest road to burn out and Rutsville. The secret is, that when we start to align with our wonderful feminine qualities, we transform out of striving for success the masculine way, and into the beautiful, free and successful life we have always wanted.
The result is, we wake up feeling energized, positive in mind and connected. We have more creativity, time to get things done in our business and therefore have more time to do the things we enjoy in life…..and all without having to choose between a successful career or having a life.
Try these 3 transformational tips to start restyling your life:
1. Stay hydrated – Go green and kick coffee to the curb
I see so many women on their commute to work every day looking tired, drained and then slurping away on a coffee to give them the boost they need to get through the day. Or business owners who sit down at their desks and get so carried away with checking things off their to do list, they’ve forgotten to drink any water for hours at a time. It’s so important to stay hydrated with the right liquids. So instead of that morning coffee with breakfast, have a green juice. They are filled with antioxidants and don’t give you the peaks and troughs in energy that caffeine can. Also, jazz up your water – before sitting at your desk, get a beautiful jug and fill it with water flavored naturally with mint, lemon or berries and sip throughout the day. Water doesn’t have to be boring.
2. Schedule & Group
When I work with clients one of the first things I do is look at how they are spending their 24 hours in a day. They often tell me they just don’t have enough time to get everything done. I also often find they don’t plan or have a schedule; just a giant to do list that seems miles long. It’s so important to spend 10 minutes at the start of your day (or even the night before) scheduling the activities that you want to complete that day. Write them down. Group ‘like’ activities together so that you can save time and also plan enough breaks and relaxation or meditation time. If it’s scheduled, stick to it. Once you get into this, you will find you start having more time to do things you love, like having dinner with friends or spending time with your family.
3. Create a workspace you love!
We spend a significant amount of time at our desks, so it astounds me when I hear that women are uninspired by their work space, or it’s unorganized and chaotic. Spend some time restyling your working environment. Drink from a lovely teacup or water glass, de-clutter and organize your paper work, add pictures of loved ones and a fresh plant or bunch of flowers. It’s amazing how much more inspired, creative and motivated we feel when we sit down to a desk in a workspace we love.
