What was your inspiration for writing Imagine Self-Love?

I feel so inspired by the practice of self-love – it offers a way out of the pain and suffering caused by limiting beliefs.

If we look deeply into any issue in our lives, we discover that self-love is at the heart of our experience. We are the gatekeepers; only we decide how much money/love/ success/vitality/happiness is ‘enough’ for us.

The practice of self-love offers a way out of old limiting beliefs, and opens a doorway to a new and brighter path.

What do you love most about birthing your book to the world?

Like any birth, I am thrilled to see something that was nurtured within me emerge to start its adventure in the world.

My heart feels so full. I have so much love to share, and so much wisdom, as well – wisdom that I’ve absorbed at the feet of a great spiritual master, and wisdom that I’ve gained from the lessons of my own life. I feel blessed to be able to craft those lessons into a gift I can share with others.

And, like any proud mother, I have high hopes that my ‘baby’ will grow up to do great things!

What lessons will women come away with after reading your book?

One lesson that I hope women will come away with is that there is no wrong way to do the journal. Of course, this lesson applies to all of life.

Go fast or go slow. Stay on one exercise for a month, skip others, or zoom through to the end. The goal is to be self-loving in your approach to the journal as a whole, and to learn to love your unique path.

The other point I hope women come away with is a feeling of accomplishment and pleasure. I want women to feel proud of their effort, even if they only do a single exercise.

It takes great courage to be self-loving. It even takes a bit of self-love just to open the journal.

So hats off to all the beautiful, courageous women who are giving themselves this gift! You are leaders in a self-love revolution, and this revolution can change your relationship with everything and everyone around you. It can change the world, one heart at a time, which is exactly where true change takes place.

We all know, deep down, what it is to be self-loving. Forgiveness, acceptance, tolerance, patience, kindness, and generosity toward the self are the hallmarks of self-love. The Imagine Self-Love journal simply brings the practice of self-love to the fore to help strengthen it and establish it as a daily habit in our lives.

What is your personal self-love message and how does it support women?

My personal self-love message is that you are perfect, just as you are.

A huge component of self-love is self-acceptance. Things that make us uncomfortable – things we might try to reject, suppress, or deny – all these are part of our humanity. The practice of self-love asks us to see our own humanity as beautiful, even with our so-called ‘imperfections.’

Intellectually understanding self-acceptance is one thing, but experiencing it is another thing entirely. Unique to this journal are the Action Steps, which help integrate the concepts into daily life in a hands-on, tangible way.

The exercises in the book gently guide the reader to a true experience of self-love.

When we practice self-love, our obstacles simply melt away. Our thinking is what held them in place, and by changing our thoughts, we allow our hearts soften, and we open the way to a new and happier experience.

What is the most difficult obstacle you’ve experienced and overcome?

Realizing that I was worthy of love, connection and happiness began with embracing my vulnerabilities and connecting with the fragmented, unloved parts of myself. Concrete actions I took to pursue this involved searching for my mother and undertaking therapeutic and spiritual work.

How to you teach and serve women?

I am a poster child for the importance self-love! I was raised in an environment that didn’t quite understand my dreamy nature, and was quite critical of it. I’ve had to make a lifelong study of reversing some of the negative messages I received (and embraced internally) early on.

My greatest challenge, like that of so many, has been to firmly plant myself on the side of happiness and joy, and to release the temptation of sadness and victimhood.

This challenge is the source of my greatest learning, as I grow in self-love and appreciation of all that I am and all that I have to offer. I have been blessed that my struggle has led me to a deep well of wisdom that I am privileged to share with others.

Now that you’ve birthed your book, what are you focusing on?

I am focusing on getting the wisdom of Imagine Self-Love into people’s lives, through the writing, and through my transformational life coaching practice.

I am excited to be gathering a group of 12 amazing women to participate in a Group Transformational Coaching experience that begins this  September. It is going to be life changing to be part of a supportive community of women who – each in their own way – are seeking more happiness and fulfillment in their lives. About Reba Linker

Reba Linker Author of Imagine Self-LoveI am a guide, a coach and a teacher, and I am ready to lead you on the path of self-love to a happier, more fulfilled way of life.

When I wrote my first book, Follow the Yarn, what started as a knitting book/memoir became a journey to self-love. As the book transformed, I experienced a parallel transformation from dance studio owner to Coach and Author. I had discovered my true purpose, and all the experiences of my life suddenly made sense in a new way.

In my own journey, my biggest obstacles turned out to be my greatest gifts. Life is what we make of the materials we are given.

We have the answers we need within us; coaching is a process of uncovering and trusting the wisdom that exists within. I am passionate about sharing my message through my books, coaching and courses, and helping others celebrate their own magnificence and joy.

Reba is offering the first chapter of her new book for free! >www.RebaLinker.com

    Dear Reba,
I am so proud of your accomplishments and remember very well sitting at the feet of our master as students.
Your idea of going at your own pace on this journey is such a powerful permission to be oneself in the process of discovery.

  • Reba Linker Jun 25, 2015, 4:44 pm

Dear Linda, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your support. It is wonderful to ‘birth’ a book, and I am glad we share that creative experience – it is like none other! xox, Reba

  • Reba Linker Jun 25, 2015, 4:48 pm

Dear Gabri’El, I am so touched by your comment and, yes, we shared an amazing experience. And, quite so, I am glad you agree that permission to go at our own pace (it’s all we can do, anyway!) is so freeing. It allows the growth that is there to be unencumbered by false pressures and expectations to be other than what we are. Blessings on your journey!, Reba
