I know you will enjoy reading Joy And Beauty As Your Path Of Devotion.

I’ve been told that I live an unusual lifestyle. Having traveled around the world for much of my life I guess it wasn’t really surprising to suddenly find myself housesitting and loving it. What’s so unusual about it? Besides not having a permanent address and often not knowing where I’ll be living next month, it has given me an experience of discovering how different locations and their furry friends impact me.

Both physically and energetically. I’m sure you’ve experienced this for yourself on numerous occasions, even if you were just visiting a friend’s or relative’s place, right? It’s as if various locations bring out different aspects within us or trigger memories we’d forgotten about.

I’ve experienced a childhood trauma being healed by being in the company of a dog who initially scared me because she’d jump on me and could easily have shredded me to pieces. As a little girl we had a dog who was jealous of me. One day he jumped on top of me and pinned me down while growling at me. My mum arrived just in time to pull him off me and we had to let him go to another home. The trauma imprint from that experience came back to life in the presence of my new furry friend and what happened next deeply moved me.

My first day with her I decided to do an online search for ways to stop her jumping on me. I was led to a video with some tips and decided to give them a go. Within 5 minutes she’d not only stopped jumping on me, she lay down to have her belly rubbed. In that moment I realised we’d had a divine appointment to heal my childhood trauma. From that day onwards she was like a gentle teddybear who gifted me with so much joy and beauty during our time together.

Another one of my dog companions helped me heal the grief stored in my heart from having had my childhood four-legged friend put to sleep due to illness. Again, I’d long forgotten about the impact of that situation yet here I was in the presence of another furry friend whose love and devotion cracked open my heart.
This has been an extraordinary journey in trusting that I am always in the right place at the right time.

Whenever I receive an invitation to look after someone’s home and their pets, I feel into the energy of the place. When it feels joyful and light then I say yes, even if I haven’t seen the home or met my new furry friends yet. It has invited me to let go of preconceived notions about certain locations and surprised me with discovering places I hadn’t even heard of yet ended up loving.

When I resigned from my 15 year career as an international flight attendant in 2008, I had no idea what was about to unfold for me. If I had known that I’d almost have to declare bankruptcy a few years later then I’m not so sure I would have taken that leap to fully commit to my soul business.

Yet, looking back, it was my devotion to fully embodying the divinity I am that had me say goodbye to a career I’d loved yet was no longer fulfilling me as it used to. And as tough as it has been at times, I am so immensely grateful for having had the courage to take that leap of faith.

I couldn’t have done it without two very loyal companions: joy and beauty. They’ve accompanied me every step of the way and guided me to living a life that is truly worth waking up for every day. I knew something had really shifted a few months into my housesitting adventure.

I had been invited to look after a sweet little dog in one of the nicest suburbs in town. I could hardly wait to see my new home. Imagine my delight when I realised I’d be living in exquisite beauty with a furry bundle of joy! I called it my Lakshmi Residence. Simply being there was upgrading my wealth consciousness.

I realised that throughout all my travels I’ve always let myself be guided to places that felt joyful to me. I also realised that beauty has presented itself in so many ways. Besides the magnificence of nature, I find myself deeply replenished when my physical environment is beautiful.

After all those years of flying first class and staying in 5-star hotels, it’s become crystal clear to me that I prefer traveling through life in style. As much as I enjoy hiking and camping, there’s nothing like balancing that out by having a luxurious bubble bath and sleeping in a comfortable bed with Egyptian cotton sheets.
I’ve noticed that for many on a path of spiritual devotion there has been such a disconnect between allowing beauty to manifest in material form. I know, I’ve had to clear out a crap load of old religious vows and contracts that judged financial abundance and living in luxury. These had obviously been stored within my unconscious database because at a conscious level I was very much aware of my preference for living and being in beautiful environments.

That’s the thing. Once you release the judgements, you’ll clearly feel what your preferences are in each moment. Then you’re free to choose what supports and enhances your experiences. Plus you’re very likely to discover new preferences along the way with the help of your loyal companions guiding you.

So what does devotion mean to you?

What are you devoted to?

Who are your loyal companions on the path of devotion?

There’s nothing like a change of environment to quickly create a shift in perspective. Changing locations has a way of stirring up fixed points of view and habits. You don’t necessarily have to travel anywhere to experience this for yourself. Just move the furniture around in your home or sit in a different chair for a few days.

If you’ve been feeling stuck in any area of your life then it may be time to review who’s been accompanying you on your journey, both internally and externally. You might find that you’ve been holding on to some companions out of shadow loyalty. Such as doubt, fear or guilt. If so, then could you allow yourself to let them go now? And then give yourself permission to welcome joy, beauty, freedom or your preferred companions to travel with you on the next phase of your journey?

Until we meet again, many joyful blessings.
