DO YOU CONSISTENTLY SPEAK POWERFUL WORDS?

Words have the power to heal and they have the power to harm; which way do you use your words?

Most of us are careful to not hurt people’s feelings with the things we say, yet the power of our words to heal or harm goes far beyond this.

Our words – spoken words, written words, prayer words, words we think, words we speak to ourselves and words we speak to others – are the single most powerful tool we have available to create the lives we want.

As women, this is a vital concept for our collective healing. We’ve been deeply programmed to believe that our voice doesn’t count – that it’s not meant to be heard.

This belief is often revealed in our self-talk; we steadily devalue and limit ourselves through harmful internal monologue  and thought words around fear, doubt, and uncertainty.

I was raised being told to sit down and shut up by a father who saw no value in women or children. I deeply internalized that belief for decades, and it led to staying silent about everything from abuse to betrayal – and it led to chronic throat issues.

One blustery cold late March day in 2014, the momentum changed, and a few weeks later, it came to an end completely.

On that day, I stood mutely by the mailbox, with my shivering, dying dog leaning against my leg, while I stared at the letter in my hands: the District Court let me know that my final divorce hearing was scheduled on the first anniversary of my mother’s death.

I couldn’t even draw breath, much less speak…and a tremendous surge of anger welled up from deep within my soul.

On the day of the hearing, I sat silently staring at the floor, only speaking in direct response to the judge’s questions. In short order, the divorce was granted and I walked out of the courthouse determined that I would find my voice.

I already used words purposefully during focused times of prayer and ritual, yet in all of the in-between time, my words – and word thoughts – were mostly negative, fear-filled, and doubtful.

One day I recalled something a therapist had brought to my attention: how often I used the word “but” when I spoke.

When we state something, then add “but” to it we immediately cancel out whatever we just said. “But” is a fear-based word that comes from seeing lack: lack of time, lack of energy, lack of money, etc.

It can also be a way of avoiding the truth. When we say we’d like to do something but we can’t because of XYZ we are either making an excuse for something we really don’t want to do – rather than simply saying, Sorry, no – or we’re afraid to take a step towards something that we do want to do.

Our days are filled with words, and those words are guiding the direction of our lives. Every single word we speak is an invocation: the process of putting letters together to form words is called spelling for a reason!

Whether we are speaking the words, thinking the words, or writing the words, we are invoking energy – we’re setting a vibration into motion that manifests in physical form sooner or later.

For women – who are naturally creative and intuitive conduits of Divine energy – it’s an incredibly powerful force. When we become aware of every word we think or say, we create with ease.

Think for a moment about the sheer volume of words that flow through your days: every single thought that passes through your busy mind; the words you say under your breath to yourself; the words you say to family, friends, co-workers, and clients; the prayers you pray; the intentions you speak; the words you write in a journal, a book, a blog, or simply writing a check; and so much more.

If those words are tumbling all over each other willy-nilly, flying in all different directions with varying energy, how is that going to manifest? Yup – willy-nilly, flying in all different directions.

If those words are constantly negative, fear-based, lack-focused, how is that going to manifest? Yup – challenge, adversity, and more fear, doubt, and uncertainty.

If those words are positive, powerful, and focused, how is that going to manifest? Yup – creating the things you want to bring into your life with joy and ease.

Every word we speak (and think) is an invocation, and getting crystal-clear on that changes everything.

When what we say to ourselves and what we say to others lines up, it’s powerful.

When what we pray and what we say after lines up, it’s powerful.

When what we set intentions for and what we think after lines up, it’s powerful.

When what we say about ourselves – out loud, in our minds, to ourselves, to others, in our writing – is positive and affirming, it’s powerful.

When what we say to other people is clear and direct, it’s powerful.

When we consistently speak powerful words, we invoke the power to change our lives, our relationships, our finances, our health, and every other aspect of our lives. Co-creative inspired action must follow, of course, yet without the words, the actions are null and void.

I invite you to take a deep look at our own words for the next seven days: really listen as you talk – especially when you’re talking to yourself (out loud, in your mind, or in your journal) – and pay attention to the flow of words continuously passing through your mind.

Make a commitment to yourself to align your words – spoken, written, thought, prayed – towards being consistently positive and supportive of your highest good, then watch the magic unfold in your life!
